Description
THE ROLE
The incumbent will work with other members of the management team to envision outstanding service for patients that is based on their needs and those of their family through planning, organizing, staffing, directing and evaluating the nursing departments. Provides support for nursing directors and managers in the administrative and clinical aspects of their roles as well as overseeing the operation.
Key Challenges
- Implement strategies to improve patient and staff satisfaction.
- Analyze current systems and structure in place and in a collaborative approach with other management members make changes where appropriate
- Develop and implement a “Magnet Status” type culture in which the nurses feel engaged and have professional growth opportunities.
- Establish recruitment and retention strategies for nurses based on best practice “Magnet Status” hospitals.
- Provide an environment where veteran nursing staff can easily accept transformational change.
Professional Experience
- Licensed and currently registered as a professional nurse in New York.
- Demonstrated competence in nursing practice as well as in coordination and direction of nursing care services.
- Masters Degree in Nursing or health related field with theoretical background in nursing practice and administration required.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development.
- A minimum of five years of nursing practice with graduated experience in management.
- Demonstrated ability to impart labor/management skills to nursing managers.
- Demonstrated ability to design and analyze systems.
