Description

Global Financial Firm has an immediate opening for a Product Controller based in NYC.  The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starter with a total amount of experience in the 7-12 year range; at least 4 years of product control experience. In this role, the individual will report to a SVP and manage 3-5 staff members and will be responsible for the oversight and production of the daily p&l. Additionally, this individual will also be responsible for reviewing changes to the balance sheet at the strategy level, and be responsible for ensuring substantiation of the balance sheet at month end. The Product Controller should also be familiar with month end general ledger close process.  He/She should have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to prioritize and take on a number of projects.

Responsibilities include:


  • Manage and review Daily P&; including all commentary and movements, and identify risk to the business.

  • Oversee and review the month-end close process; reviewing reconciliations completed by staff, resolving issues, and escalating key items to management.

  • Oversee balance sheet substantiation for all strategies and review material changes on a daily basis with the balance sheet reporting team.

  • Deal with Accounting Policy issues.

  • Manage a staff of 3-5.

  • Daily interaction with trading desk, IT, Market Risk, Operations, and other key finance groups (Accounting Policy, Management Reporting, Balance Sheet Reporting, Regulatory, etc.)

  • Initiate process reengineering, improve efficiency, and work to improve IT systems.

  • Ability to run various projects.


    • Skills Required:


  • BS/BA in accounting or finance.

  • 5-12 yrs of experience, primarily in product control.

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Strong excel skills (v-lookups/pivot tables), and ability to manipulate data.

  • Knowledge of GREEKS.
