Standard & Poors is seeking a hands-on Senior Application Developer to be a key player in the design, development and support of various index platforms including End of Day Index Platform. This role requires a seasoned technologist, who will lead and contribute to application development, maintenance and production support activities. He/she will analyze business requirements and provide tactical and long term solutions to meet key business needs.  The candidate will also be directly interacting with business operations in providing application support.
 
The responsibilities also include:

• Design and develop industry-leading java applications to meet Index business needs
• Maintain system run-book and document workflows of key systems and processes
• Lead and participate in design reviews and technical walkthroughs of key Index systems
• Respond to and resolve production issues

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience.
• A minimum of 4 years of experience in software development and support in a Unix, Java/J2EE Relational Database (Oracle preferred) environment.
• Strong experience in supporting multi-tier enterprise applications.
• Solid background in maintaining and debugging Java applications.
• Working knowledge of managing and administering Java Messaging systems such as Weblogic, Sonic MQ.
• Hands-on web application development experience in delivering large scale Java/J2EE applications using technologies, such as: Struts, Spring, Hibernate, JSF.
• Strong Oracle PL/SQL, stored procedures, SQL optimization skills.
• Proficiency in the development environments including IDE, web servers, application servers, source control systems, unit-testing tools and defect management tools.
• Experience with Index/Benchmarks or Asset Management or Portfolio Investment modeling.
• Excellent communication skills are essential with strong verbal and writing proficiencies
