Requirements:
Bachelors Degree required. J.D, M.B.A or higher degree preferred.
At least eight years of prior experience commercial lines insurance or legal experience is required. At least five years of experience should be within financial lines, E&O, pension trust liability, EPLI, fidelity and/or D&O insurance. Underwriting claims and/or compliance experience is strongly preferred.
Project management experience and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across departments are also required.
Experience in policy administration systems (issuance and rating) and document management are also a plus.
Knowledge of underwriting process and controls.
Knowledge of or expertise in researching applicable compliance laws, rules and regulations.
Proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel and comfort using web based applications.

Description:
Chartis has an opportunity for an Underwriting Officer in its Executive Liability division. In this position, you will work closely with its Chief Underwriting Officer in building and enhancing underwriting resources and controls that will facilitate efficient, savvy and legally compliant underwriting. Responsibilities are as follows:
Manage the development of guidelines applicable to the products and/or units assigned.
Build, enhance and keep current, underwriting resources.
Build knowledge database and prepare alerts for underwriters about important developments in exposure, compliance or underwriting process.
Participate in product development and manage product form support and compliance.
Assist with underwriting audits.
Maintain form database for assigned products.
Work with and support assigned divisions by identifying process efficiencies and providing timely information about products, underwriting process and compliance requirements.
Analyze developing exposures and market trends.
Manage projects involving strategic initiatives, profitability, business opportunities and planning.
Support underwriter and management training.
